Comcast to Debut Talking TV Menus

television remote controlPeople with visual impairments often have to rely upon friends and family to navigate television programming. At the 2013 Cable Show, however, Comcast recently demonstrated the nation’s first talking cable TV interface. The feature, currently in development, will give people with blindness or low vision better access to on-screen top box menus, the linear program guide, Xfinity and OnDemand, and will be integrated into the next generation of Comcast’s X1 platform. For many people with vision impairment who live alone or simply wish to be more independent, being a couch potato just got a lot more accessible!
