The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), last week, moved to increase the amount of video description that is required of television broadcasters. In 2011, rules were brought in that require top networks to provide 50 hours of video described programming each quarter. The FCC is now proposing increasing the required hours to 87.5 hours and implementing other rules that will benefit the visually impaired.

As with all new regulations, this will be a lengthy process, but it’s good to know that the topic is being addressed.
