Guide Dog Helps a Blind Man Escape the World Trade CenterIt’s been twenty years since one of the most tragic events in America’s history, 9/11. Many lives were lost, but fortunately, some individuals were able to escape the towers before they fell. One such instance, a guide dog helps a blind man escape the World Trade Center. When the tower that Michael Hingson worked in was struck, he managed to navigate his way from the 78th floor to the street with the help of his guide dog Roselle. Hingson remembers:
“When Tower 2 collapsed… I heard a voice in my head as clearly as you hear me that said, ‘Don’t worry about what you can’t control. Focus on running with Roselle and the rest will take care of itself.’ And I had this sense of peace that we’d be ok if we worked together. And that’s a lesson I learned and it’s a lesson I try to pass on.”
