Many developing countries have under resourced medical systems. It can take weeks for a patient to be referred to a specialist and even longer for paper files to be transferred.A new smartphone app, developed in New York, is aiming to overcome some of these problems by allowing primary care providers to instantly enter data into the app and send it to the specialist or hospital that the patient is being referred to. The app also gives location details helping to find an appropriate referral site.
Though there are still some problems to work out after the pilot program in India, the program is being updated and prepared for roll out. Find out more.
