Marissa Gold lost her vision six years ago because of Type 1 diabetes and a virus she contracted. Living without vision meant that Marissa would have to learn new skills to function in the world, such as learning Braille. To support his adult daughter, Gold's father Michael decided that he would learn how to read Braille too.

"My admiration goes out to people who have visual disabilities and who are blind because what they've had to learn in terms of technology is absolutely amazing," said Michael Gold. "They have to memorize so much."
